On my path to reaching my goal of running wheel-to-wheel in GTB1 with my Cayman R, I’ve been investing heavily in my health. About 10 weeks ago I started a medically supervised weight management program using Nestle Health Science’s Optifast, it is no joke. I am doing the fully liquid approach, and working my way up to 30 minutes of cardio, and 30 minutes of weights everyday. So far I am at 3-4 days a week at the gym, I really enjoy swimming, mostly focusing on cardio, 30 minutes of swimming, and 15 minutes on the bike, or mixing it up with 30 minutes on the bike, and then an upper-body weight routine. I will keep working on different variations so I don’t get bored with the same workout everyday. On off days, I do push-ups, sit-ups and stretching at home. Thus far I have lost 44Lbs, which is averaging out to roughly 4-5Lbs a week. I started the program on 1160 calories a day, and have gradually scaled it back to 800 calories, with a 200-300 calorie workout, I have been averaging about 500 calories on a workout day, which is pretty intense.
I removed all of the bad food choices, and have mentally shifted to thinking about food as fuel, the really tough part is yet to come, after I hit my weight goal, and when I start working food back into my diet, portion control is going to be the next test of my willpower. Having a goal to work towards that is not just related to a number on a scale, but is tied to a bigger goal of something that I really enjoy doing, want to keep learning, and improving, is helping me maintain my motivation.
